Arleen
My name is Arleen and my first dip was at horseshoe Bay underneath the Golden Gate Bridge on February 23, 2024. I started dipping because I was on a mountain bike ride with a new friend and she said she dips in the San Francisco Bay in the mornings and I asked if I could join her. The pain I was experiencing was emotional pain from grief and I was dealing with a sleep disorder, mood swings, brain fog, and depression. I had avoided cold water my entire life and suddenly my body was craving it - the cold water, the sunrise, my bare feet on the ground, the minerals from the salt water, feeling connected to nature and the community of women with whom I was now dipping. Dipping gives me the feeling that I am enough. That is what keeps me coming back.
