"Why not you? Why not now?". Those two questions have led me to some of the greatest adventures of my life, from moving my family to Asia for four years, to getting back on a mountain bike at age 49, to putting my hat in the ring for a board position. And those were the questions a friend asked after teeing up the seemingly crazy idea of setting an alarm on Sunday morning to get in freezing cold water in the bay. Simply put, there were NO good reasons for why not, so I joined a small community of intrepid women and walked hand-in-hand, step-by-step, into the cold water the next morning, and I've never looked back.
Getting in the cold water feels new and different and magical every single time. There is nothing more magical than being in the water as the sun rises over the Golden Gate bridge, or dipping as a light mist of raindrops falls, or swimming out through a mystical blanket of fog. And no matter the circumstance that Mother Nature brings, there's nothing more magical than experiencing it in unison with a community of women that ebbs and flows itself, unified in our desire to do hard things together. Every experience is different and every experience is perfect.
